Established
in the summer of 1998 in Elmhurst, Queens. Bangladesh Hindu
Mandir is a temple conceived, built and run
by the Hindus of Bangladeshi origin living in
the tri state area of New York, New Jersey, and
Connecticut.
The 9,000 sq.
ft. temple has central heating/air conditioning,
central sound system, large dining space and a
commercial kitchen. It can be conveniently accessed by major
transportations.
This
non-for-profit institution is intended to serve
the spiritual, religious and cultural needs of
our community. It is further intended to provide
a forum for free exchange of cultural,
educational and religious ideas. We plan to hold
and conduct lectures and seminars pertaining to
Hindu religion and culture.
The temple
observes all major religious festivals in
accordance to the sacred Hindu calendar. In
addition, every Saturday, devotees gather in
large numbers to hear readings from the Holy
Gita and participate in chanting, i.e.,
Namkirtan. |
